Apa Itu Present Continuous Tense?

Bentuk Kalimat	Rumus	Contoh
Positif	Subject + am/is/are + Verb-ing	She is reading a book.
Negatif	Subject + am/is/are + not + Verb-ing	She is not reading a book.

Penggunaan Present Continuous Tense

a) Menyatakan Kegiatan yang Sedang Terjadi Sekarang

Digunakan untuk aktivitas yang sedang berlangsung saat ini.

Contoh:

I am writing an article now.

He is sleeping.

We are learning English.

b) Menyatakan Aktivitas Sementara

Untuk kegiatan yang terjadi sementara waktu, bukan kebiasaan permanen.

Contoh:

She is staying with her aunt this week.

I am working on a special project.

c) Menyatakan Rencana Masa Depan

Digunakan untuk future arrangement atau rencana yang sudah dipastikan.

Contoh:

We are meeting the client tomorrow.

I am flying to Jakarta next week.

d) Menunjukkan Kebiasaan yang Mengganggu

Biasanya menggunakan kata always atau constantly.

Contoh:

He is always complaining.

She is constantly losing her keys.

Time Signal Present Continuous Tense

Kata keterangan waktu yang sering digunakan:

now = sekarang

right now = sekarang 

at the moment = saat ini 

currently = saat ini 

today =hari ini

this week = minggu ini

tonight  = malam ini

Cara Membuat Verb + Ing

Aturan umum penambahan -ing:

a) Tambahkan suffix-ing, contoh: 

read → reading

play → playing

study → studying

b) Kata kerja berakhiran -e, hapus e lalu tambah -ing

write → writing

make → making

come → coming

c) Kata kerja pendek: double consonant

run → running

sit → sitting

swim → swimming
