Pada tulisan ini kita akan membahas bersama tentang sebuah teks yaitu Descriptive text. Kita akan melihat bersama apa itu Descriptive text dan fungsi sosialnya? Susunan descriptive text, apa ciri-ciri descriptive text, dan contoh descriptive text.

What is descriptive text? 

Apa itu descriptive text dan Fungsi sosial descriptive text?

Descriptive text is a text that explains, draws, and describes about an object. The object can be animals, persons, process, events or things. Descriptive text usually appeals to the five senses; taste, touch, sight, sound and smell. So that we can draw the targeted object.

Descriptive text merupakan teks deskripsi yang bertujuan untuk menjelaskan, menggambarkan dan mendeskripsikan suatu objek. Bisa hewan-hewan, orang, proses, kegiatan, maupun benda-benda di sekitar. Descriptive teks biasanya dikembangkan berdasarkan pada kelima indra, seperti indera perasa, peraba, penglihat, pendengar dan pencium. Maka dengan ini kita bisa menggambarkan objek yang tertarget.

Apa susunan descriptive text?

Secara umum, teks deskripsi memiliki susunan sebagai berikut:

1. Identification

Identification memiliki arti identifikasi. Ini artinya sebuah teks deskripsi ditulis dengan diawali pendahuluan berupa gambaran umum pada suatu topik tertentu.

Pada bagaian introduction (perkenalan/pendahuluan) ini Kita memberikan gambaran singkat tentang objek yang akan kita deskripsikan. Termasuk namanya apa, definisi dari objek itu apa.

2. Description

Bagian kedua ini merupakan description, artinya bagaimana keadaan objek tersebut. Misalnya saat ingin mendeskripsikan orang, kita lihat bagaimana penampilannya (appearance), sifatnya (personality), 

karakternya (characteristics) bahkan juga bisa tentang hobi yang dimiliki orang tersebut maupun rutinitasnya.

Apa ciri-ciri descriptive text? 

Language feature descriptive text.

1. Descriptive text menggunakan tenses Simple Present Tense

2. Menggunakan attribute verb/nominal verb/non-action verb (is, am, are).

3. Menggunakan Adjective (kata sifat) seperti:

Quite tall, rather short, beautiful, handsome, muscular, thin, well-built, oval face, high cheekbones, blue eyes, mole, curly hair, short brown hair, humble, strict, generous, kind, friendly, humorous, creative, innovative, casual, simple, wavy hair, etc.

Contoh-contoh kata sifat di atas digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan keadaan kata benda atau objeknya. Misalnya saya akan membuat beberapa contoh kalimat dengan kata sifat di atas:

- My brother is fat. He has short black hair.

- Andi is a creative boy. He always designs a poster impressively.

4. Menggunakan kata kerja aksi (action verb) seperti walk, sun, cut, eat, work, etc.

5. Specific participant. Artinya memiliki objek tertentu atau target yang akan dideskripsikan tidak bersifat umum dan unik.

6. Adverb of Frequency. Jika yang kita deskripsikan merupakan sebuah pekerjaan atau aktifitas kita sehari-hari, maka kita perlu menggunakan adverb of frequency. Contoh adverb of frequency:

often, sometimes, usually, seldom, never, hardly ever. etc

Contoh-contoh Descriptive Text

Berikut ini akan diberikan beberapa contoh dari descriptive text:

My English Teacher

I have an energetic English teacher. His name is Mr. Abu Afnan. He teaches English every Tuesday and every Saturday. Mr. Abu Afnan is a well-groomed teacher. He is a good looking teacher. He is about 28 years old. He has short black hair. His skin is brown. His height is 170 centimeters. He and his wife have one younger daughter. 

Mr. Abu Afnan is a Creative English teacher. He gives us English lessons interestingly, so we don't feel bored. Before we start the class, we always play game. The game is very fun because we play it on computer screen. Mr. Abu Afnan let us to use our gadget during the study. Sometimes we do exercise on our mobile phone. Mr. Abu Afnan is an innovative teacher. He creates an application in android so we can access the lesson anytime and anywhere. 

Catboy is My Beloved Cat

Hi, I would like to tell you about my beloved cat. His name is Catboy. I give him a name Catboy because my cat is male. Catboy is so cute. His weight is about 3 killograms.

Catboy is a shy cat. He never shows his face to his friends. He likes staying at home and sleep. Catboy has spot fur. Its colors are black, orange and white. His whisky is a bit long. He has long tail. It is about 15 centimeters long. I really love my cat and I always take him to the bath room. I wash his fur with shampoo once in a week. I feed him twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
